Raspberry Pi Zero2W Case

Raspberry Pi Zero2W Case

🔹 Session 1

Date: 11/04/2026
Time: 8:19PM - 8:54PM
Duration: 0.58 Hours
Work Type: Design
Lapse: https://lapse.hackclub.com/timelapse/OVW0zJhCnBD-

Tasks: Started by finding the Dimensions of the RPi Zero 2W and sketched out an outline of the case. Kept 0.5mm extra tolerance for the length and height. Added 2.4mm thick small poles in place of the Screw holes so it keeps the Pi steady. For now the thickness of the Shell is 5mm and 2mm in the bottom. Also carved out holes for the SD card and ribbon Cable. Been using a 3D model of the Pi I downloaded from online to check if the stuff aligns properly.

🔹 Session 2

Date: 12/04/2026
Time: 7:37PM - 8:19PM
Duration: 0.7 Hours
Work Type: Design
Lapse: https://lapse.hackclub.com/timelapse/SprRnPad5PpD

Tasks: I tried to design the top part of the sketch as it is gonna hold the holes for the I/O (Mini HDMI and Micro-USBs). Tried using the official dimensions but those seem to be a bit off.

🔹 Session 3

Date: 14/04/2026
Time: 8:56PM - 9:42PM
Duration: 0.76 Hours
Work Type: Design Lapse: https://lapse.hackclub.com/timelapse/f5w0HHse6-VO

Tasks: I started by thinking about the wall thickness around the ports as if its too thick cables wont reach the ports. so I decided to keep this area 2mm thick while the rest of the case is 5mm. Then I fixed the port hole sizes and lined them up and added some arts on top part of the case. I also designed a joining mechanism so it slides into the case and stays on top of it like that.

Notes / Learnings

  • I figured out how tolerances help making a case for something.

⚠Issues / Challenges

  • The main issue was finding the exact dimensions for the Pi. So I used a 3D model of the Pi for reference
