When I test out the key... Using https://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/geocode/json?address=1600+Amphitheatre+Parkway,+Mountain+View,+CA&key=AIzaSyAOVYRIgupAurZup5y1PRh8Ismb1A3lLao

I get the following error:

The api key provided in this gist no longer works, you will have to create your own. Regarding your error, you loaded the api key using http://, but the correct one is https://, for SSL.
