 Queer Coded Office Hours
 Queer Coded is up and running! One of our goals in QC is to create space and community for folks in CS who are LGBTQ+. If you have questions about what Queer Coded is all about or just want a chill place to study and hangout with other queer folks, come join us!
 When: Mondays 12pm - 2pm, Wednesdays 11am - 1pm
 Where: ICICS X339 (Project Room)

 Summer 2019 TA Applications Now Open
 We're looking for excellent candidates to apply by March 23 at https://www.cs.ubc.ca/ta. Be sure to fill out the appropriate application (undergraduate vs. graduate) for the term you are interested in. Submitting by the deadline is best, but if you submit afterward, the earlier you submit, the more likely it will be considered. If you have some special reason to think the instructor of a course wants *you* for their TA, please apply and then ask that instructor to log in to www.cs.ubc.ca/ta and comment on your awesome application. For our formal job ad, see the bulletin board outside ICCS 201.
 
 UBC Wellness and Final Exam Resources
 From Mon. March 25 to Thurs. April 4 the Science Peer Academic Coaches are offering short (15 minute) sessions to help you feel prepared for your final exams. These will take place 12-5 pm, in the Tutoring and Coaching Pavilion, 3rd floor of Irving K. Barber Learning Centre. Create your own study plan, pick up some helpful study tips, and learn essential time management strategies. Additionally, you will receive a final exam care package upon completion!  Go to https://students.ubc.ca/find-study-groove to get study tips plus information on special final exam events and giveaways happening between April 1-23 (includes free study kits, snacks & crafts, free “steam and stretch” classes at UBC Aquatic Centre). Or talk with trained student volunteers at the UBC Wellness Centre for tips and resources on stress, study tips or navigating university life. They also have workshops and activities to learn strategies and coping skills.
 
 There’s also a new free self-help resource available for UBC students called Therapy Assistance Online (TAO). It’s an interactive platform of tools and educational modules designed to help you learn skills on how to think about and change the way you think, feel and act. TAO can provide you with strategies to help feel less anxious or depressed today, and as you go forward in your life. Students can access TAO via https://thepath-ca.taoconnect.org  using their UBC email. If you don’t have a UBC email address, then sign up at http://id.ubc.ca.

 LP x CSSS: Project Hub

 Do you want to work on side projects with friends? Learn a new skills from other students? Eat free food? Come to Project Hub!
 Project Hub meetings occur biweekly and consist of a talk or workshop about a particular technology or skill (either by industry professionals, UBC CS students, or someone else from the UBC community), followed by an open workspace where everyone can work on their projects, ask for help, network, and explore new ideas - complete with snacks and refreshments!

 CSSS Presents Floating Point: A Year-End Cruise

 It’s the end of the year and the beginning of the next! Everyone’s invited to this year’s Year End Gala, out at sea! We’ll be cruising on the water for 3 hours on the Britannia, departing near Stanley Park. You’ll enjoy a full-service bar, a catered dinner, games, a raffle, a DJ, dancing, and the company of your friends!

 Diversity in Math Undergraduate Summer School at UBC
 Location: UBC & SFU
 Dates: July 22nd - August 2nd, 2019

 Applications are now open for "Diversity in Math", a two-week outreach summer program devoted to enhancing the presence of under-represented groups in STEM fields. The program is open to female-identified undergraduate students studying mathematics or a related discipline such as computer science, physics and statistics. The purpose of this program is to introduce the undergraduate participants to a wide variety of professions and careers. Mentorship is an important component of the program. Undergraduate participants are expected to interact with senior mathematicians in academia and industry, and also act as mentors for high school students around the Lower Mainland who are considering a STEM-based career. The application deadline is April 1, 2019.

 VOLUNTEERING
 UBC Let's Talk Science Girls Coding Workshop at John Oliver
 We're looking for a few enthusiastic volunteers to help us introduce girls in grades 6 to 9 to coding! In this six-week program, students will learn to write Python code to draw things using turtles and make simple games, as well as program Micro:bits.
 When: Tuesdays 3:30-5:45 PM from mid-April to late May
 6 weeks total, exact dates TBD (most likely, we will start on April 23).
 Where: John Oliver, 530 East 41st Ave (41st & Fraser)
