Course Capture (“the Extension”) is a Chrome extension that helps you capture screenshots of Coursera video lectures.
This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how it’s used.
The Extension may store the following locally in your browser (Chrome storage / IndexedDB):
- Auto-download preference and selected download folder handle
- Usage flags used to decide when to show the feedback prompt (for example: install time, screenshot count, whether the feedback prompt was already shown)
- A local copy of feedback you submit
This data stays on your device unless you clear the Extension’s data or uninstall it.
If you respond to the optional in-app feedback prompt, we collect:
- Your selected feature choice
- Optional free-text feedback (if you choose “Something else”)
- Extension version
- Submission timestamp
- A non-identifying source label (for example, that the feedback came from a Coursera screenshot flow)
Feedback is sent to a Google Sheet controlled by the developer so product decisions can be prioritized.
We do not collect:
- Your name, email address, or account information
- Coursera login credentials
- The contents of your screenshots
- Your browsing history outside the Extension’s stated purpose
- Precise location or payment information
- To save screenshots to your clipboard and (if enabled) your chosen folder
- To show the feedback prompt only to eligible users and avoid repeating it
- To understand which features to build next
Feedback submissions are stored using Google Sheets / Google Apps Script. Google’s handling of that data is covered by Google’s Privacy Policy.
We do not sell your data.
Local Extension data remains until you clear it or uninstall the Extension.
Feedback rows in Google Sheets are kept only as long as needed to improve the product, and may be deleted periodically.
- You can dismiss the feedback prompt without submitting anything
- You can disable or uninstall the Extension at any time in Chrome
- Clearing Extension data in Chrome removes locally stored preferences and usage flags
The Extension is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Extension after changes means you accept the updated policy.

Course Capture works mostly on your device. The only data that leaves your browser is optional anonymous feedback (choice, optional text, version, timestamp), which is stored in Google Sheets to help improve the Extension.
