Common Terminal Commands

Before we look at some common commands, I just want to note a few keyboard commands that are very helpful:

Recommendations of unit types per media type:

Media	Recommended	Occasional use	Infrequent use	Not recommended
Screen	em, rem, %	px	ch, ex, vw, vh, vmin, vmax	cm, mm, in, pt, pc
Print	em, rem, %	cm, mm, in, pt, pc	ch, ex	px, vw, vh, vmin, vmax

Magic words:

psql -U postgres

Some interesting flags (to see all, use -h or --help depending on your psql version):

-E: will describe the underlaying queries of the \ commands (cool for learning!)
-l: psql will list all databases and then exit (useful if the user you connect with doesn't has a default database, like at AWS RDS)
