This gist shows how to create a GIF screencast using only free OS X tools: QuickTime, ffmpeg, and gifsicle.
To capture the video (filesize: 19MB), using the free "QuickTime Player" application:
| First, install nginx for mac with "brew install nginx". | |
| Then follow homebrew's instructions to know where the config file is. | |
| 1. To use https you will need a self-signed certificate: https://devcenter.heroku.com/articles/ssl-certificate-self | |
| 2. Copy it somewhere (use full path in the example below for server.* files) | |
| 3. sudo nginx -s reload | |
| 4. Access https://localhost/ | |
| Edit /usr/local/etc/nginx/nginx.conf: |
| =Navigating= | |
| visit('/projects') | |
| visit(post_comments_path(post)) | |
| =Clicking links and buttons= | |
| click_link('id-of-link') | |
| click_link('Link Text') | |
| click_button('Save') | |
| click('Link Text') # Click either a link or a button | |
| click('Button Value') |
