Position: Ruby on Rails Developer(s)
The District Management Council is seeking skilled and passionate Rails developers
to help us shape the future of public education.
We develop innovative web applications to meet the most pressing challenges
facing public school districts today. Public schools across America are using
our software and services to increase the effectiveness of Special Education
programs, Teacher Evaluation programs, and for overall management and
planning. | |
In addition to the applications we build, we also have a significant
consulting business. Our consultants are bright, hard-working people from top
schools who are dedicated to our mission of improving public education. Our
CEO is a part-time faculty member at Harvard Business School, focusing on bringing
change to public education.
We're serious about changing the future of public education in this
country. If you can connect to this mission and want to develop leading-edge
Rails applications, we want to talk to you.
Our ideal candidate is an intelligent, pragmatic generalist looking to solve

* Working knowledge of RSpec
* Experience with HAML + SASS
* Experience with Redis or other Caching Solution

About Us: | |
The District Management Council is a small, fast-growing company working hard
to improve public education. We arm our members with insight and facts so they
may better serve their students in the face of (sometimes) great adversity.
Although our software division is relatively new, we are part of a larger,
established company; this allows us to enjoy the agility of a startup combined
with the stability of a 7-year-old company.
Why Join Us? | |
Feel good. Our work improves the education of students that most rely on it.
Plus, we're a stable, profitable company with a track record of success and
bright future. | |
Do good work. We write good tests for our code (unit, functional and
integration). All code is either pair-programmed or reviewed by a peer. You'll
get good feedback and learn things, but reviews are never pedantic or
overbearing. | |
Enjoy your job. Our offices have an open floor plan, tons of natural light,
and are located just a block from the Boston Common. We work hard, but fire
alarms and overtime are rare. We have a Jura coffee machine and a fridge full
of snacks. |
