Splitmaster Privacy Policy
Splitmaster Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 2, 2026
Splitmaster ("the app") is a stopwatch app for timing swim meets, developed by Ryan Carpenter. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and who it's shared with.
Heat, lane, and split data you record — event/heat numbers, lap times, and history — is stored locally on your device only. It is not sent to us or to any server we operate; we don't run a backend for the app's race data.
If you choose to export a heat to Google Sheets (a Splitmaster Pro feature), the app asks you to sign in with Google and requests two permissions:
- See, edit, create, and delete only the specific Google Drive files you
use with this app (
drive.filescope) — used solely to create the spreadsheet Splitmaster exports to. The app cannot see or modify any other files in your Drive. - Your email address — used only to show which Google account is currently connected in Settings.
Your Google sign-in tokens are stored securely on your device (using the platform Keychain/Keystore) and are never sent to us. You can disconnect your Google account at any time from Settings, and you can revoke Splitmaster's access entirely from your Google Account permissions page.
Splitmaster's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
If the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, diagnostic information (stack trace, breadcrumbs, device/app version) is sent to a crash-reporting service we operate ourselves (Bugsink, self-hosted — not a third-party analytics company). Before anything is sent, the app strips personal information such as emails, tokens, and file paths from the report. This data is used only to find and fix bugs, and isn't tied to your identity or Google account, so we have no way to look up or delete a specific person's crash reports on request.
Splitmaster Pro is sold as an in-app purchase processed entirely by Google Play (on Android) or the App Store (on iOS). Payment details and purchase records are handled by Google/Apple under their own privacy policies — Splitmaster only receives confirmation of whether you own the purchase, which it uses to unlock Pro features.
Splitmaster ("the app"), developed by Ryan Carpenter, doesn't have its own account system or a server where your race data lives — heat, lane, and split data stays on your device, and the Google Sheets export goes to a spreadsheet in your own Drive that we can't see or modify.
To delete your data: open the app, go to Settings, and tap Delete My Data. After you confirm:
- The app's access to your Google account is revoked (server-side token revocation)
- All locally stored race data — meet history and saved team names — is permanently cleared from your device
- This takes effect immediately; there is no retention period, and no server-side copy exists to delete
You can also revoke Splitmaster's Google account access separately, at any time, from your Google Account permissions page, or delete spreadsheets it created directly from your Google Drive.
What isn't deleted: Splitmaster Pro, if purchased, is a purchase record held by Google Play or the App Store, not data Splitmaster collected — it isn't affected by Delete My Data and is managed through your Google Play or App Store account.
- No analytics or usage-tracking SDKs
- No advertising or ad networks
- No selling or sharing of your data with third parties
Splitmaster is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same URL with a revised effective date.
