Code Repository Naming

Your repository should always be kebab-case: no capital letters, no underscores, no periods, nothing weird.

If it's a Java project, the repository name should also match the Maven artifactId. The only exceptions, you are forking a project and want to make it clear your fork is not the source repo, or you have multiple forks of repos that would otherwise have a name collision. In those cases, prefixing with another word to indicate the upstream source is advised.

SLF4J has a note in the FAQ about a recommended idiom for declaring a logger, which uses MethodHandles to avoid naming the logger explicitly, which makes it easy to copy into a new class or include in a new file template.

After switching to static imports for both the MethodHandle and the LoggerFactory, this becomes the most unintrusive form I've ever seen, with both a short line length and requiring few import lines:

Recently found some clowny gist was the top result for 'google takeout multiple tgz', where it was using two bash scripts to extract all the tgz files and then merge them together. Don't do that. Use brace expansion, cat the TGZs, and extract:

You don't even need to use brace expansion. Globbing will order the files numerically:

$ cat takeout-20201023T123551Z-*.tgz | tar xzivf -
