[22:03:25] <madmanwithabox> I'm a time traveller. I said replied to you to a message you hadn't sent :P
[22:03:30] <madmanwithabox> Yes I can see you manas
[22:03:37] <cli_ninja> Let's begin
[22:03:59] <madmanwithabox> Okay
[22:04:06] <manas> cool , whats the agenda
[22:04:42] <arcsaber> shouldmt we wait a bit more
[22:05:35] ! ajax joined
[22:05:50] <madmanwithabox> So. The birthday meet. Like cli_ninja said, we do not have enough time now to start a large project. So I think we should keep it simple. Current proposal is, 2 talks by women, 1 look-back talk like libregeekingkid (rajudev) had on the ILUG-D birthday meetup, and followed by the open house discussion on ways to bring more women into the community and then eat cake.
[22:07:06] <madmanwithabox> Does anyone have an idea to beat that? If not let's go ahead with it
[22:07:21] <madmanwithabox> (going once)
[22:07:29] <rajudev> simple projects would be be possible for the time frame we have
[22:07:38] <rajudev> only be *
[22:07:54] <madmanwithabox> rajudev: Okay, so this sounds good na
[22:07:58] <manas> simple projects like ?
[22:07:58] <rajudev> Find women speakers to be the action item now
[22:08:59] ! 2 users joined
[22:09:04] <rajudev> ayan might have an idea on the simple projects part
[22:09:14] <madmanwithabox> cc cli_ninja?
[22:09:34] <Animesh> What kind of projects?
[22:09:57] <madmanwithabox> That's what we're trynna figure out. What simple projects can we do for the birthday meetup
[22:10:33] <Animesh> You mean something that can be done hands-on?
[22:10:50] <madmanwithabox> That would be ideal. Something hands-on does hold the audience attention
[22:11:03] ! libregeekingki joined
[22:11:08] <cli_ninja> I'm not sure, given the time frame we can have something like PyDelhi
[22:11:16] <cli_ninja> One day game development
[22:11:21] <cli_ninja> at last demo!
[22:11:25] <cli_ninja> Using Python
[22:11:41] <arcsaber> that python part happens to be a bit restrictive
[22:11:45] <cli_ninja> We can be language agnostic for LCI
[22:11:50] <madmanwithabox> Hm. That'd be fun.
[22:11:51] <arcsaber> exactly
[22:12:00] <cli_ninja> That's what PyDelhi had(just mentioned)
[22:12:05] <Animesh> Well I have some stuff, but unfortunately I won't be there at b'day meetup.
[22:12:19] <madmanwithabox> Okay, pitch some ideas animesh
[22:12:27] <madmanwithabox> We'll see if we can do them
[22:12:32] ! sakshisangwan joined
[22:12:54] <Animesh> Well I see a lot of web devs, so something related to that can be good
[22:13:16] <Animesh> Plus web dev stuff is easier than most of other fields
[22:13:18] <cli_ninja> #2 A photobooth: Raspberry Pi powered clicks photo when button is pressed posts on LCI twitter, we make it then we click
[22:13:24] <arcsaber> how about
[22:13:31] <arcsaber> coolest project wins
[22:13:35] <cli_ninja> Oops! sorry for interrupting, Animesh keep going!
[22:13:47] <manas> why dont we show the types of way we can customise our linux laptops
[22:13:51] <cli_ninja> Anything specific?
[22:13:55] <manas> a show case of all customisation and DES
[22:14:12] <manas> as linuxchix so keeping it with linux
[22:14:26] <madmanwithabox> Okay, let's try to maintain order. Let's go one by one on the topics. Please elaborate Animesh. We'll get to the other to (cli_ninja's and manas's) after it
[22:14:30] <manas> and it wont take time too , plus sharing the dot files who want those customisation
[22:15:03] ! unixia joined
[22:15:40] <utkarsh2102> Why not something with hardware (Linux) and code in Python (PyLadies)? cli_ninja, d'you have anything in mind?
[22:15:54] <utkarsh2102> LinuxChixIn*
[22:16:09] <cli_ninja> I had exactly something like that but we don't have time for it now!
[22:16:25] <unixia> Right.
[22:16:34] <Animesh> Related to web dev,one example could be some hands-on stuff on advanced HTML5 and JS APIs
[22:16:39] <unixia> I think its better to take out the word for women speakers
[22:16:54] <rajudev> cli_ninja: I have mentioned the photo booth idea to people multiple times. do you have the time to get it available till the meetup?
[22:17:22] <cli_ninja> No I'm travelling till Saturday!
[22:17:33] <madmanwithabox> Animesh that wouldn't be on Linux or Python though
[22:18:05] ! libregeekingki quit
[22:18:13] <madmanwithabox> utkarsh2102: okay, so regarding the photobooth thing, if we need a raspberry pi, how about we forget the blockchain hackathon and use the RPis you have, I come over and we try to set it up?
[22:18:36] <utkarsh2102> Sure. Works for me.
[22:18:41] <madmanwithabox> unixia: I didn't understand the phrase `better to take out the word for`. Can you elaborate on that?
[22:19:01] <manas> what about my idea ??:-p
[22:19:02] <madmanwithabox> utkarsh2102: but do those RPis work properly? No overheating or any ports missing or something like that?
[22:19:12] <Animesh> So is it mandatory to stick to Linux n Python?
[22:19:14] <madmanwithabox> manas: yes I was coming to that. Puttin' it on hold for a sec
[22:19:16] <unixia> madmanwithabox: I meant we should write on Twitter and request women who
[22:19:16] <utkarsh2102> What are the requirements for the photobooth, cli_ninja and rajudev?
[22:19:30] <unixia> are already a part of the community to give a talk
[22:19:41] <madmanwithabox> Animesh: it would be very off topic for the people who came to the meetup to learn something about Linux or Python
[22:19:43] <cli_ninja> Rpi, Camera module, Button , Internet, Application
[22:20:10] <madmanwithabox> unixia: Yes, that's a great idea.
[22:20:12] <utkarsh2102> madmanwhithabox, got that covered.
[22:20:14] <cli_ninja> I still think we stick to talks
[22:20:28] <cli_ninja> should*
[22:20:34] <cli_ninja> Given the time frame
[22:20:38] <madmanwithabox> Yeah. Might be messy if we do a botched job of it
[22:20:55] <manas> a show case wont take time
[22:20:56] <madmanwithabox> Not to mention we have to start advertising it
[22:21:07] <manas> just show case and a git repo of all customization if someone needs
[22:21:12] <cli_ninja> Given a day time I will think of some fun activities at venue but main agenda should be clear and interactive for all!
[22:21:36] <utkarsh2102> Here's something more important: Would you guys have a problem if we have a venue in Noida?
[22:21:53] <rajudev> an all women speaker line up would be good to go.
[22:22:05] <madmanwithabox> manas: So I was thinking we could keep that near the end of the meetup. A whole meetup to ricing would get boring quickly. But having a little show n' tell at the end of some really sweet linux setups would be nice
[22:22:07] <arcsaber> @utkarsh2102 do you have a venue
[22:22:11] <utkarsh2102> In my defence, the venue offers free medium-sized Dominos Pizza.
[22:22:15] <cli_ninja> + Journey of these communities as Raju presented
[22:22:19] <utkarsh2102> The one in NOida^
[22:22:23] <Animesh> Cocoa: So perform some fun stuff with something like web scraping, that's more Python related
[22:22:44] <arcsaber> https://github.com/linuxchixin/talks/issues/60
[22:22:47] <arcsaber> i could do this
[22:22:54] <arcsaber> if we are talking python and web dev
[22:22:56] <utkarsh2102> manas: Something related to Python, too ;)
[22:22:56] <madmanwithabox> cli_ninja: the journey part is gonna be hard because we don't have the OG organizers around for the birthday meetup
[22:23:26] <madmanwithabox> rajudev: but how do we get women speakers within the time frame allotted?
[22:23:31] <madmanwithabox> cc unixia too
[22:23:46] <cli_ninja> It would be a normal meetup + cake in that case :P
[22:23:50] <manas> for python , there was one talk of vipul gupta on some python module that can make backups on dot file
[22:23:55] <manas> and can be used in new laptops
[22:24:05] <utkarsh2102> Let's go one by one, madmanwithabox. Are we going for the normal talks, then?
[22:24:22] <cli_ninja> If normal talks let's have all Women speakers
[22:24:36] <utkarsh2102> Yeah.
[22:24:43] <madmanwithabox> utkarsh2102: Seems so. We don't have time for other ideas
[22:24:55] <madmanwithabox> So let's do this. Focus the whole team on getting women speakers
[22:24:55] <utkarsh2102> But first things first, we gotta decide what's happening.
[22:25:08] <utkarsh2102> Themed-meetup?
[22:25:12] <utkarsh2102> Or random talks?
[22:25:18] <madmanwithabox> That's gonna depend on the people we approach
[22:25:31] <utkarsh2102> Need an elaboration on that.
[22:25:34] ! lci joined
[22:26:01] <cli_ninja> How about we invite women to give talks on "Their experiences as a woman in tech industry"
[22:26:24] <Animesh> cli_ninja: +1
[22:26:36] <cli_ninja> That would be inspiring
[22:26:38] <utkarsh2102> sakshisangwan, you'd be the first speaker! :D
[22:26:39] <unixia> cli_ninja: It'll be fine to have one talk like that but all of such talks might not be engaging
[22:26:40] <madmanwithabox> utkarsh2102: Okay, we're gonna approach women in the field to give a talk on anything, they're gonna be choosing the topic
[22:26:48] <arcsaber> yeah but would a lot of people come to attend it
[22:26:52] <arcsaber> @cli_ninja
[22:27:08] <utkarsh2102> madmanwithabox, then it's not themed then. Alrighty.
[22:27:59] ! lci left
[22:28:00] <unixia> Oh and we could easily do a jounrey talk I guess. sakshisangwan, utkarsh2102, and cocoa have been there for good time in the community as organizers
[22:28:01] <utkarsh2102> [OT: I can't edit my typos. Sigh.]
[22:28:17] ! manas left
[22:28:27] <utkarsh2102> We need something for PyLadies Delhi, too.
[22:28:54] <cli_ninja> We ask their organiser to do the same?
[22:28:55] <utkarsh2102> A journey talk for 2 communities?
[22:29:16] <rajudev> pushplata can join in for Pyladies Delhi as a speaker?
[22:29:19] <utkarsh2102> It's the same people, more or less, cli_ninja :P
[22:29:30] <madmanwithabox> rajudev: I don't think she's available
[22:29:35] <madmanwithabox> Lemme ask her
[22:29:35] <utkarsh2102> Not sure about her availability.
[22:29:48] <unixia> If you're having the meetup in Noida, she would be able to join I think
[22:30:17] <madmanwithabox> Her, me and utkarsh2102 can come together :P
[22:30:50] <unixia> Sure
[22:30:53] <utkarsh2102> I am still not sure of the schedule. Can someone sum it up?
[22:31:19] <madmanwithabox> I wish you could do line breaks in messages on IRC. Proposed schedule:
[22:31:33] <madmanwithabox> 1. Talk 1 by Speaker 1 [TBD]
[22:31:40] <madmanwithabox> 2. Talk 2 by Speaker 2 [TBD]
[22:31:41] <madmanwithabox> Both women
[22:31:56] <madmanwithabox> 3. Talk about someone's journey through tech
[22:32:20] <madmanwithabox> 4. Journey of LInuxChix India's Delhi chapter and PyLadies' Delhi chapter
[22:32:33] <madmanwithabox> 5. Show n' tell of riced desktops and little tutorials on how to do it
[22:32:42] <madmanwithabox> 6. Eat stuff and cake and chill
[22:32:59] <unixia> Schedule should be:
[22:33:00] <unixia> 1. Introduction of the communities and CoC
[22:33:00] <unixia> 2. Talk 1
[22:33:00] <unixia> 3. Talk 2
[22:33:00] <unixia> 4. Networking and break
[22:33:00] <unixia> 5. Talk 3
[22:33:00] <unixia> 6. Journey so far of both the communities and future plans.
[22:33:02] <unixia> 7. Closing and cake cutting
[22:33:02] <unixia> IMO
[22:33:11] <utkarsh2102> Proposal: Can we do 101s?
[22:33:25] <madmanwithabox> 0_o. How'd you do that unixia? Send multiple messages at once?
[22:33:34] <madmanwithabox> We'll talk about that in the group
[22:33:39] <unixia> utkarsh2102: Yes, we can. As long as its brief
[22:33:40] <rajudev> madmanwithabox: pidgin
[22:33:41] <cli_ninja> Kick me on weekend for this but can we have a 30 min quiz on Linux and Python please, I'll try to get some gifts :P
[22:33:59] <unixia> cli_ninja: Yes sure
[22:34:02] <madmanwithabox> Haha, I like it
[22:34:17] <cli_ninja> Good, welcome to quiz organisers team
[22:34:23] <madmanwithabox> Sweet
[22:34:23] <rajudev> cli_ninja: right before the cake cutting or in the middle of the schedule. that will pump people up
[22:34:42] <cli_ninja> Now you're the organiser you can't win :P madwithabox
[22:34:52] <Animesh> utkarsh2102: What topics for 101s?
[22:34:53] <cli_ninja> madmanwithabox *
[22:35:10] <madmanwithabox> Guess that's the curse P
[22:35:12] <cli_ninja> @rajudev: Right
[22:35:57] <utkarsh2102> Linux and Python. Suggested 101s becuase since college exams are over, many are willing to join in. So 101s and a piece of cake would be a booster for them :P
[22:36:36] <madmanwithabox> utkarsh2102: How about we do an install fest too then?
[22:36:50] <utkarsh2102> That's what Shivani (someone in Amity) asked me.
[22:37:05] <utkarsh2102> Hm, fine by me. I just need the cake.
[22:37:22] <madmanwithabox> Okay. so. 101 talks and an install fest. A journey so far talk and a Linux quiz, followed by cake
[22:37:30] <arcsaber> install fests take too long IMO
[22:37:31] <madmanwithabox> I think that's a good enough birthday meetup no?
[22:37:33] <Animesh> I won't be getting even the cake :P
[22:38:25] <madmanwithabox> arcsaber: If we have enough volunteers on the spot, we could do it parallely (if I spelled that right)
[22:38:46] <madmanwithabox> Talk 2 and networking break can also have the install fest (maybe)?
[22:39:10] ! ajax quit
[22:39:51] <madmanwithabox> How does that sound to everyone?

[22:39:52] <cli_ninja> BREAK

[22:39:55] <cli_ninja> QUIZ
[22:39:57] <cli_ninja> CAKE
[22:39:59] <cli_ninja> Group Photo
[22:40:05] <unixia> What about the cake?
[22:40:11] <unixia> Where do we get it from?
[22:40:19] <unixia> Something nearby?
[22:40:32] <unixia> And what should be the budget?
[22:41:20] <madmanwithabox> Budget depends. We can request contributions prior to the meetup for this maybe?
[22:41:58] <unixia> People were interested in contributing, right?
[22:41:58] <madmanwithabox> Or if a person is willing to pay for the cake, we can do it like ILUGD and refund after the cake was eaten
[22:42:05] <madmanwithabox> unixia: yes
[22:42:16] <unixia> Let's open up for funds
[22:42:28] <madmanwithabox> Okay. Who will be collecting
[22:42:28] <unixia> whatever is the extra amount, I shall cover
[22:42:43] <madmanwithabox> *IRC GIFless high five*
[22:43:05] <utkarsh2102> I had started a doc for collecting fund for LCI :P
[22:43:09] <unixia> Someone who can have a card or cash to pay and collect the cake should be collecting
[22:43:15] <utkarsh2102> Guess we'll put that to use :P
[22:43:25] <madmanwithabox> a doc?
[22:43:35] <utkarsh2102> I'll come back to it later.
[22:44:04] <arcsaber> oh and everyone bring some live USBs
[22:44:13] <madmanwithabox> Yeah
[22:44:22] <unixia> Let's make it clear that funds are exclusively for the cake.
[22:44:51] <utkarsh2102> Karmanya wanted to contribute, no? CC: madmanwithabox
[22:44:53] <arcsaber> Preferably

[22:48:16] <arcsaber> Ill do 4
[22:48:17] <cli_ninja> utkarsh2102: Will talk on TG about that just after this

[22:53:00] <unixia> utkarsh2102: Look for something easily accessible
[22:53:02] <utkarsh2102> Only cake :/
[22:53:19] <cli_ninja> Depends on contributions, we can get snacks too!
[22:53:36] <utkarsh2102> Ping @uditwapt, madmanwithabox, for 91springboard.
