Building Tensorflow from source on Ubuntu 16.04LTS for maximum performance:

On Ubuntu 16.04LTS+:

Step 1. Install NVIDIA CUDA:

To use TensorFlow with NVIDIA GPUs, the first step is to install the CUDA Toolkit as shown:

Install Terminator (shell)

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome-terminator
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install terminator

Terminator should be setup as default now. Restart your terminal (shortcut: "Ctrl+Alt+T").
