Ubuntu 24.04 and GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB drivers installation
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade;
sudo apt autoremove nvidia* --purge;
ubuntu-drivers devices;
sudo apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r) build-essential;
# reboot
sudo apt install nvidia-cuda-toolkit;
lspci | grep -i nvidia;
sudo apt install nvidia-driver-550;
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade;
# reboot
nvidia-smi;
nvcc --version;

Which kernel version (uname -r) are you running?

$ uname -r

I got the following:

But in the end i get:

a@swarm:~$ nvidia-smi No devices were found

No clue what im doing wrong

Thank you! These commands resolved the issue for me.
I think in previous cases where I encountered the two errors mentioned, I hadn't run the upgrade command.

1- NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running

2- Nvidia NVML Driver/library version mismatch
