Jr. Rails Developer for Bidsketch.com

Thanks for your interest! We aren't looking for applicants at this time, but here is the original posting:

Hi there. I'm Eric. I spend my days working on Bidsketch.com with some awesome people. We are looking for a Jr. Rails Developer to:

  • Build features that make our customers more awesome
  • Respond to support requests from our awesome customers
  • Squash bugs and generally improve the Rails 2.3 app that makes it all possible
  • Take an active part in building fun stuff with a great team

The Job

  • It's a Junior-level position, so a little bit of experience will go a long way (but not required).
  • 100% Remote
  • We'll start with a 30-60 day contract at 30-40 hours a week and then move to full-time

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone to work with, so the kind of person we hire is just as important as their skill set. We need someone who:

  • Has a positive attitude
  • Can communicate and plan as well as they can write code
  • Comes up with creative solutions to problems
  • Has an awesome hobby and a good story
  • Can dig through complicated code to find the root of a problem
  • Knows how and when to ask the right questions

Required Technical Skills

  • Git (we use pull requests heavily)
  • Ruby/Rails (any version will do)
  • HTML/CSS/JS
  • LAMP Stack (not really. I always thought it was weird to see this in job descriptions)

Bonus Points

  • Writing Tests
  • Writing in Markdown
  • Sales/Support experience
  • Any Web Development experience
  • LAMP stack.

Getting to Know you

If you think you'd be a good fit, introduce yourself via email to [email protected]. Send me anything you think will help me get to know you and your work. I'm looking forward to talking to you.
