How to install Ubuntu with LUKS Encryption on LVM

How to install Ubuntu with LUKS Encryption on LVM

My work requires us to have full-disk encryption, so these are the steps I use.

The basic idea is to create a LUKS-encrypted partition which is used as an LVM Physical Volume.

The GRUB boot partition isn't encrypted, but everything else is.

These steps tested and working on 22.04 (jammy) and 20.04 (focal).

Install PostgreSQL 10 on Ubuntu

Install PostgreSQL 10 on Ubuntu

This is a quick guide to install PostgreSQL 10 - tested on Ubuntu 16.04 but likely can be used for Ubuntu 14.04 and 17.04 as well, with one minor modification detailed below.

(Optional) Uninstall other versions of postgres

To make life simple, remove all other versions of Postgres. Obviously not required, but again, makes life simple.

dpkg -l | grep postgres

Example of querying an Oracle database using Python, SQLAlchemy, and Pandas

Query Oracle databases with Python and SQLAlchemy

N.B. SQLAlchemy now incorporates all of this information in its documentation; I’m leaving this post here, but recommend referring to SQLAlchemy instead of these instructions.

Install requirements

  1. We’ll assume you already have SQLAlchemy and Pandas installed; these are included by default in many Python distributions.
  2. Install the cx_Oracle package in your Python environment, using either pip or conda, for example:

Setting up a Dockerized web application with Django REST APIs, ReactJS with Redux pattern, and Webpack Hot Reloading! Mouthful.

Guide on how to create and set up a Dockerized web app using Django REST APIs and ReactJS

Hopefully this will answer "How do I setup or start a Django project using REST Framework and ReactJS?"

This is a guide to show you step by step how this can be setup. If you just want to get started, use the cookiecuter I set up cookiecutter-django-reactjs. It basically is a fork of pydanny's cookiecutter, just added the front-end stuff :).

I created this because it was SUCH a pain in the ass setting up a project using all the latest technologies. After some research, I figured it out and have it working. The repo that implements this is located here. Feel free to use it as a boilerplate ;)

Main features:

  • Django REST APIs

C++ Pointer Tutorial

C++ Pointer Tutorial

Because pointers can be ugh

"Regular" variables (not pointers)

To understand a pointer, let's review "regular" variables first. If you're familiar with a programming language without pointers like JavaScript, this is what you think when you hear "variable".

When declaring a variable by identifier (or name), the variable is synonymous with its value.
