- This workshop is intended to spark further thinking about your own portfolio or any other Web projects you might want to explore.
- We are each in our own place, with our own priorities, knowledge, inclinations, habits, and preferences. All of those will affect the kinds of solutions and approaches we each migth take in make a Web thing.

Five Areas of User Experience From Elements of User Experience by Jesse James Garrett.
- Strategy - What is the thesis, the purpose, of your portfolio? What do you want your portfolio to communicate about you?
- Scope - What are the most important features your portfolio should have to achieve the purpose?
- Structure - What specific pages or views do you need to publish? What are their relationships to each other?
- Skeleton - What specific content needs to exist on each page, and in what order or what relationship with each other?
- Surface - What aesthetic choices (color, typography, space, image) need to be used to communicate an intentional tone or mood or character about you?

Activities
- Gather digital portfolios that you like. Articulate what features are attractive or of interest to you. Is it the look and feel? The language? The images? Layout? Kinds of content?
- Compose your own strategy. What is a 1-2 sentence thesis for your portfolio. Specfiically, what would you like someone who visits your portfolio to walk about thinking or knowing?
- Gather material for your portfolio:
- Write a paragraph about yourself, that you would use to introduce yourself to anyone who visits your portfolio. How would you write that? What would you want folks to know about you? Feel about you?
- Get a few good portraits of yourself to put on your site. (Alternatively gather some images that are relevant to your research/teaching interests.)
- Make a list of your research projects. Even if they're half-baked, speculative, something you've worked on but want to get back to later)
- Consider purchasing a custom domain. See if your name is available as a
