ASTRO for YouTube Shorts ("the Extension") is a browser extension that adds playback controls to YouTube Shorts. This privacy policy explains how the Extension handles user data.
The Extension does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data.
Specifically, the Extension:
- Does not collect personally identifiable information
- Does not collect browsing history or web activity
- Does not track which videos you watch
- Does not use cookies or tracking pixels
- Does not make any network requests to external servers
- Does not contain any analytics SDKs or third-party scripts
The Extension stores the following data locally on your device only using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API:
- User preferences — Settings you configure in the popup (e.g., auto-next toggle, playback speed, layout preferences)
- Aggregate session counters — Simple numeric counters such as "total Shorts viewed" and "session duration" for your personal reference in the popup dashboard
- Controller position — The on-screen position of the floating controller, so it stays where you placed it
This data:
- Never leaves your device
- Is not transmitted to any server
- Is not shared with any third party
- Can be fully reset at any time using the "Reset" options in the Extension popup
