To summarize both questions:
**Does andon retry?** No — bare gRPC clients, no interceptors, no retry policy. Failed flush IDs are silently dropped. There are even <code>// TODO retry logic?</code> comments in the code.
**Missing K8s defences (in priority order):**
1. **<code>minReplicas: 2</code> for API** — the single biggest fix; two replicas means eviction of one leaves the other serving
2. **PodDisruptionBudget** for API/pacer/andon — prevents GKE evicting a pod when doing so would cause zero availability
3. **<code>preStop: sleep 5</code> hook** on all containers — gives the endpoints controller time to drain before SIGTERM, eliminating the <code>connection refused</code> race condition
4. **Readiness probes on pacer/andon/impressions/deliveryprofiles** — only API has them; new pods currently receive traffic before they&#39;re ready
5. **gRPC retry policy** on all clients — retrying on <code>UNAVAILABLE</code> with exponential backoff would have masked this entirely
6. **Re-queue failed andon flush IDs** — so a transient API blip doesn&#39;t silently skip pausing an over-delivering IO</div></div>
