Fleet 4.59.0: Now you can install apps at boot

Fleet 4.59.0: Germanium

Installing apps at boot, Wi-Fi magic, and custom MDM URLs

Hey everyone,

We've just rolled out Fleet 4.59.0, and I thought I'd share some of the updates we've been working on. These are the little things that (hopefully) make your day a bit smoother.

Install apps during new Mac boot

You know that awkward moment when a new Mac boots up, and users start clicking around before everything's set up? Yeah, we've been there too. Now, you can block the user's screen during the macOS Setup Assistant while essential software installs or scripts run. Think of it as a polite "hold on a sec" while we get things ready.

Automatically connect end users to Wi-Fi

Connecting to Wi-Fi shouldn't feel like cracking a secret code. With this update, you can install a SCEP certificate from NDES on all macOS hosts as part of the Wi-Fi/Ethernet configuration profile. In plain English: users get connected securely without the usual hassle.

Custom URL for Apple MDM

Some of you wanted to separate MDM traffic from the rest. We get it. Now, you can set a custom MDM URL to differentiate MDM communications and apply specific network rules. It's all about giving you a bit more control.

We've also made a bunch of tweaks and fixes under the hood. If you're into that sort of thing, the full changelog is here.

As always, thanks for being part of this journey with us. If you run into any hiccups or have suggestions, we're all ears.

Cheers,

@mikermcneil
