cd squashfs-root
mv ./lib/libfreetype.so.6 ./lib/libfreetype.so.6.bak
./stremio

Have the same issue with the Ipe Appimage. Fixed with a simpler hack:
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libfreetype.so ./ipe-7.2.7-x86_64.AppImage
which might work for your case as well.
