| Today we announced "GitLab Act 2," which is just a fancy way of saying | |
| we’re pivoting to AI because that’s where the hype is. | |
| We’re gutting the company to move faster, which means we’re firing a lot | |
| of people and hoping "AI agents" can do the work of the humans we just got | |
| rid of. We’re taking the money we saved from those salaries to hire more | |
| developers, but in much smaller, more stressed-out groups. We’ve got a big | |
| roadmap to show off in London on June 10th, mostly to prove we haven't | |
| completely lost the plot. | |
| The worst part is that we’re sacking some great people who actually built | |
| this place. You might notice your account manager has vanished; if they have, | |
| someone else will send you a polite email pretending everything is fine. | |
| We aren't changing the product itself yet, mostly because we can't afford to | |
| lose your business. We’re still pretending to care about open source and | |
| transparency while we try to stay relevant. | |
| I’m sure this all sounds like a mess. If you’re annoyed or worried, feel free | |
| to email me and my expensive leadership team, and we’ll eventually get around | |
| to sending you a canned response. |
