mouse-cam — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-09-20

mouse-cam is a personal, single-user application. It is not distributed, offered or made available to anyone other than its author. There are no other users.

Data accessed

With the author's own explicit Google account authorisation, and only for the author's own devices:

  • Camera device metadata: device identifier, device type, and room name
  • Live video streams from those cameras

The scope requested is https://www.googleapis.com/auth/sdm.service.

How data is used

Video is recorded to local storage and analysed by motion detection software to identify short clips containing mice. Clips are reviewed by the author through a web interface reachable only on the author's private local network.

Where data goes

All video and metadata remain on hardware owned and operated by the author, on a private local network. Nothing is transmitted to any third party, published, sold, shared or used for advertising. There is no hosted server, no analytics, no tracking, no cookies, and no other user with access.

Retention

Continuously recorded video is deleted automatically on a rolling schedule. Extracted clips are retained on local storage until deleted by the author.

Revoking access

Authorisation can be revoked at any time at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions, which immediately ends the application's access to all camera data.

Children's data

The application is not directed at children and collects no personal information about any individual.

Changes

Any change to this policy will be published at this same URL.
