2012-Present Freelance Web Developer – Electric Putty, Hove

  • Electric Putty is a Hove-based web design agency, working primarily with the third sector
  • I currently balance a number of projects in PHP (using the CodeIgniter framework and Expression Engine CMS)

2010-2012 Web Developer – 10:10, London

  • 10:10 is an environmental campaign that encourages personal action on climate change with a number of carbon-cutting projects
  • Worked primarily in Python (using Django and Google App Engine) but also PHP (using Drupal and WordPress) to create and maintain innovative project websites including those of [http://www.solarschools.org.uk](Solar Schools) and [http://www.lighterlater.org](Lighter Later)
  • Worked closely with the campaigns team to recommend and deliver appropriate solutions to campaign challenges

  • Submitted thesis in 2010, but was unsuccessful and opted not to resubmit
  • PhD was run jointly by the departments of Anatomy and Computer Science and supported by a Medical Research Council capacity-building studentship
  • Project involved computational modelling and analysis of neural processes – In particular, investigating the way in which the brain makes decisions on familiarity
  • Presented work at numerous conferences, including oral presentations at MCB ’07 in Bath and PsyPAG ’08 in Manchester

2001-2005 MEng in Knowledge Engineering with Study Abroad (Czech Rep.) – University of Bristol
