Distributed Transactions and why you should avoid them

1. Modern technologies won't support it (RabbitMQ, Kafka, etc.);
2. This is a form of using Inter-Process Communication in a synchronized way and this reduces availability;
3. All participants of the distributed transaction need to be avaiable for a distributed commit, again: reduces availability.

Implementing business transactions that span multiple services is not straightforward. Distributed transactions are best avoided because of the CAP theorem. Moreover, many modern (NoSQL) databases don’t support them. The best solution is to use the Saga Pattern.

Summary of book "Clean Architecture" by Robert C. Martin

Uncle Bob, the well known author of Clean Code, is coming back to us with a new book called Clean Architecture which wants to take a larger view on how to create software.

Even if Clean Code is one of the major book around OOP and code design (mainly by presenting the SOLID principles), I was not totally impressed by the book.

Clean Architecture leaves me with the same feeling, even if it's pushing the development world to do better, has some good stories and present robust principles to build software.

The book is build around 34 chapters organised in chapters.

reMarkable is a paper tablet by https://remarkable.com/.

The reMarkable tablet is the best e-paper in the market. However, it does not have built-in support for CJK (Chiniese, Korean and Japanese) users.

Luckily, this could be resolved by installing CJK fonts on the tablet.

1. Go to Preference > Storage > Enable USB web interface (Beta).
2. Connect reMarkable with your PC via a microUSB cable.
3. SSH to the device as user "root" using the password find in Preference > About. e.g. ssh [email protected]
4. Download "NotoSansCJK[you language]-Regular.otf" from *note, there is limited space on the device, so do not sue "Super OpenType/CFF Collection (Super OTC)", an language-specific OTC is ok.
