FORMAT

This cup bring an unique format to ShootMania (mostly based on the Ping-Pong format)

Team = Group

  • Join as a solo, duo or trio group.
  • There are no bonuses by playing solo or in a duo.

Cup Duration

  • ~2 hours every Friday, from 20H30 UTC+1 to 22H30 UTC+1 maximum.
  • Takes 3 weeks:
    • First and Second Weeks: Qualification Phase
    • Third Week: Semi-finals/Finals between the two pools of the qualifiers

Qualification Phase

  • There will be N pools, where N is the number of groups divided by 2.
  • Your group will be assigned to a random pool at the beginning of the cup.
  • Winning a match will put you in the next pool (eg: 3 -> 2) and loosing will put you in the previous pool (eg: 3 -> 4)
  • There will be as much servers as there are pools, so if:
    • You won in the first pool, stay on your server.
    • You lost in the last pool, stay on your server.
    • Else you will need to go on the respective server your group got assigned to.
  • Each server of the qualification phase has an Arena type map (mostly flat and almost no obstacles).
  • Each match will be played on one map, where you need to score 2 rounds to win.
  • If a group didn't joined the server in time (5 minutes) it will be considered as an abandon:
    • If some of the players of that group didn't joined it will start with the remaining players (the players who didn't joined can join later).

Semi-Finals/Finals Phase

WILL BE PLAYED IN A STANDARD BRACKETS FORMAT (with looser brackets!)

  • The players from the pool 1 and 2 will play in the semi-finals.
  • Each group will select one of their favorite map (not necessarily Arena type maps):
    1. Group A map
    2. Group B map
    3. Decider map: Arena
  • The winner group receive a virtual hug.

ENDING

When the cup end, current standing will stay for the next cup (groups will stay at their current position)

FAQ

Why should I try to advance to the next pools at the last minutes of the qualification phase if I'm last?

Every progress you will make will be saved for the next cup, so if you manage to win 2 matches, you will have a better ranking for the next KOTA cup!

Aren't solo/duo groups disadvantaged?

Yes they are, but some people like challenges. Of course, if you want to play for the fun, play with some friends instead of being alone!

Who goes in team blue/Who picks the first map in the semi-finals/finals?

It depends on the group who won (for Pool 1 it will be the one who was already here)

What happen if a group abandon?

Groups in the previous pools will advance.

What happen if a group didn't connected in time?

It will be considered as an abandon, and they will go back to the last pool.
